Young Chefs Added Flavor to the Festival

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts left its mark on the 7th Izmir GastroFest, organized this year with the theme of ‘Food Sovereignty’ with the flavors they prepared. Using Aegean cuisine products such as artichokes, figs, and Tulum cheese, students prepared banana, orange, and walnut cake, chocolate muffins, cookies, and Aegean herb and Tulum cheese quiche, and they received full marks from food enthusiasts.
Held at the historical Coal Gas Factory, GastroFest provided an unforgettable day for the people of Izmir. The young chefs of Izmir University of Economics added zest to the event with the delicacies they prepared at the festival, which brought together Turkey's leading names in gastronomy. Abdullah Salkım, Member of the Executive Board of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, who delivered the opening speech of Izmir GastroFest, visited the stand with Vice President of the Assembly Mehmet Tahir Özdemir and Assembly Member Süleyman Subaşı and met with the students.
Aypar Satı, Trainer Chef and Lecturer at the IUE Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, stated that they prepared unique Aegean flavors that stood out with their taste and appearance, in line with the theme. Expressing that they received a lot of positive feedback after the festival, Satı congratulated the students.
